Julie Hartman, a college senior, discusses the prevalence of hook-up culture among young people, which she says mostly benefits men and harms women. Hartman argues that, although men and women are equal, they are not the same, including in matters of sexual contentment. She posits that modern-day feminism, which insists that female empowerment comes from women acting the way that men do, is largely responsible for the discontent women feel with the hook-up culture and with casual, emotionless sex.
